Wasco Co. SWCD Annual Meeting
This year's annual meeting is scheduled for June 3, 2020, during our regular monthly board meeting at 1:00 PM. Our Annual Report and Audit will be available on this website and by email. As we have a legal requirement to hold the Annual Meeting and present the Annual Report and Audit for the previous fiscal year before the end of the new FY, and considering how unsettled things are concerning the coronavirus, this was the most viable option for this year. Please click on the webmaster link below to email us if you have any questions or concerns.
USDA Service Center TD - NRCS/SWCD/FSA Operations Update
The Service Center continues to operate on limited staffing levels. However, phones are being answered and program signups are ongoing. For FSA news the Corona Food Assistance Program (CFAP) signup opened today. This program is geared towards livestock producers as well as pear, apples, and limited non-specialty crop producers.
Wasco is in D3 drought status, so the Live Stock Forage Program (LFP) for livestock producers has been implemented. We are also eligible for water-hauling through the Emergency Livestock Assistance Program (ELAP) program because of the D3 designation. Emergency grazing requests are coming in. District Planners will assist FSA in developing the stocking prescriptions for the program.
CREP reenrollment and new enrollment is on-going. If you plan to reenroll your CREP or would like to enroll new riparian acreage, contact the Conservation District at 541-296-6178 ext 3 to get in touch with a Planner.
NRCS continues to work on getting contracts completed and program participants paid while distric staff continues their work on CREP contracts.
