About the photos on this site:
Over the years District and NRCS staff have accumulated quite a few photographs and we'd like to share them with our readers. Sprinkled throughout page headers are old and new images from places within the county. We've even included a page for some photos of interest that will change over time. If you have an image you'd like to share send it to the webmaster at the link at the bottom of the page. Be sure to include credit and a short sentence about the picture!!

Lastly, contact the webmaster for permission to use photo images from this site.

Fruit Growers in Wasco and Hood River Counties have a new NRCS Funding Opportunity
Fruit growers in Wasco and Hood River Counties are eligible to apply for assistance to enhance pollinator and beneficial insect habitat, as well as other practices through a Conservation Initiative Strategy for the Columbia Gorge.

Pollinators and beneficial insects are critical for crop production, pest control, wildlife habitat and biodiversity. These species are in decline due to habitat loss and fragmentation as well as exposure to diseases and pesiticides.

Through this local program, financial assistance from USDA is available for orchard, vineyard, and berry growers in Wasco and Hood River Counties to restore and protect pollinator and beneficial insect habitat.
